Organic vs. Man made USB flash design
To design a set of USB flash drives that speak the visual language of organic design and Man Made design. The USB's visual language must be evident in the material used as well as the design created.
Organic vs. Man Made
The beauty of Nature is purely displayed by the simplicity of the natural structures inforced by Nature, and how these structures form together to create a working universe with separate and different entites. Borrowed from Nature, Man has been inspired by the structure created by these natural beings where these structures are implied into products and architecture. Man Made objects become something beautiful as well as inforce a strength within the structures that works well in Nature.
The main purpose of this project is to create a USB displaying a visual language that reflects an Organic structure as well as a Man Made strucutre. This project is inspired by these natural structures and how Man borrows these forms to create pieces of artwork. The USB flash drives, in this project, contradict one another by displaying an intricate structure in Nature as well as a Nature inspired Man Made structure. The Organic USB flash drives visual language will be inforced by a brushed Aluminium material which will display the purity and simplicity of Nature, where the Man Made USB flash drives visual language will contradict Nature by producing the USB in a raw and unfinished wood to show how Nature is used to create certain structures.
These USB flash drives further contradict one another by creating each entity, Orgami and Man Made, to each contain a set of three that both hold similar characteristics and contradictions. The USB flash drives will show both structures within Nature and Man Made products that refer back to a structures of strength, core and structure that is inspired by these Natural structures. To create a further contradiction the USB flash drives will be stored in a flat pack form in the opposite material. This allows for the set to remain together as well as create an easy storage unit for the set of USB flash drives.
